Looking for a nut?

Grant requests - DEADLINE May 7, 2025

Every year we squirrel away a few nuts to share with our friends over the next year. But we like to make sure our nuts are being used for good, and not for evil, so we make you fill out this form, and then we get really judgy. Like, literally, we judge you. But don't get nervous. Just use your words, the best words, your most tremendous words, the words that are very, very good, to describe your needs. Then prepare for judgement day. Which is usually sometime in June.

Note: If you previously received a grant in 2024, please be sure to submit your report before applying this year.

How to get a nut from these nuts

    Who's the main contact?
    Who are you guys?
    ...of the organization.
    You are acing this....
You are probably in Maine, aren't you? Or maybe New Hampshire? But you have to scroll through this whole annoying list, like a squirrel looking for a nut. But it would be presumptuous to think you might not be from Alabama.
Remember, you are going to be judged on accuracy. Stay inside the lines....
No-brainer here. Double check your work.
You do have a website, don't you? If not, you should use this money to get one. I know a guy....
How did this box get way over here? Yeah, this is a test....
Here's where it starts to get difficult. A complete program/project description including expected outcomes, whom it will benefit, and what impact it will have on the community.
Detailed budget, including the total program project budget, the amount you are requesting, gifts you have received so far for this project, and your additional fundraising plans. Man, these are getting harder....
Oh good, an easy one. Your organization's Section 501(c)(3) tax exempt number. What? You don't have one? Well, that might be okay, neither do we. But you might have some 'splainin' to do....
A list of the organization's volunteer board of directors. Okay, go look it up. We'll wait.
Your organization's most recent annual report or financial statements. Yeah, we kind of want to see them.
Any deadlines that could affect the timing of our decision? Did you think we were going to say something funny here?
    Max file size: 20MB

So here's how these nuts work

Our Granting Committee usually meets in the spring each year to review requests for funding. We give top priority to requests from organizations located in Kittery that do not have state or national affiliations. We also prefer to work with organizations who can contribute to the success of the Kittery Block Party. Our last criteria is variety – we spread our grants over a variety of areas including:
  • Arts programs that preserve and enhance the cultural opportunities and infrastructures
  • Civic Initiatives that promote economic development, improve quality of life, and strengthen the basic foundation of our community
  • Education programs that enhance academic achievements and aspirations
  • Environmental Programs that protect and preserve the unique landscapes and wildlife habitats
  • Human Services organizations and initiatives that enhance the quality of life, especially those most in need
Please note that Kittery Block party does not provide funding for individuals, religious or political organizations.
